Large garden for a golf lover

Large garden for a golf lover

The Brief and my Design

I designed this large garden in Clevedon when working with Katherine Roper Landscape and Garden Design. The clients to this lovely Victorian house in Clevedon had a long sloping garden that just consisted of lawn and large evergreen shrubs running down either side. There was very little planting. The garden was quite overlooked which the client wanted to address.

We wanted to create an interesting journey up the garden using wide steps and stepping stones through the lawn.

The client is a keen golfer and used to take advantage of the long lawn to chip golf balls onto. I decided to design a new garden that he could still use in this way by splitting the lawn into three different levels and specific distances to chip onto. The client was delighted that I had managed to achieve this so that the new garden would help maintain his low handicap!

Because of the length of the garden we designed two further sitting terraces so that views back to the house could be enjoyed.
