Medium family sized Garden
The Brief and my Design
I designed this garden when working with Katherine Roper Landscape and Garden Design and the solution eventually offered the clients a lot more privacy and a feeling of intimacy. The challenge was to improve the existing layout, which did not work in a cohesive way. The existing patio was too small and had been poorly laid. The whole area needed to be softened with planting and the garden would benefit from having more attractive views from the lounge and kitchen.
The clients had two young children and there were drops behind the existing raised beds that were dangerous. Incorporating evergreen hedging at two levels ensured a safe boundary as well as screening off the adjacent road and creating a sound barrier from the traffic.
The new seating terrace was designed in front of a hardwood fence and placed here to catch the late afternoon sun.
